Aeromodelling activities at Skyhawks can be impacted by fire ban declarations issued by the Country Fire Service (CFS).

It is important for members to be aware of these restrictions, as flying is prohibited on Total Fire Ban days. During the Fire Danger Season, members are encouraged to monitor the CFS website for Fire Danger Ratings to ensure they are aware of prevailing fire ban conditions:

https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/restrictions/total-fire-bans-ratings/

Fire Danger Ratings are published after 4:30 pm daily during the fire season. Total Fire Bans are imposed when a region is rated Extreme or Catastrophic. Flying of all models (gas, electric, turbine, glider, helicoper, quad rotor) is prohibited on these days.

Skyhawks is located within the  Mount Lofty Ranges region. The CFS has declared the Fire Danger Season for the Mount Lofty Ranges will run between the following dates:

1 December 202430 April 2025

When checking the CFS website, the Mount Lofty Ranges region appears as follows. If this segment of the map is coloured orange or red, a total fire ban is in place.
